Police activity around St. Vincent Hospital sparks panic

An emergency alert was sent to staff at Providence St. Vincent Hospital on Monday afternoon and additional security was brought in due to a reportedly armed suspect outside.

Police and hospital officials confirm there was no active shooter at or near the campus, but officers were looking for an armed robbery suspect in the neighborhood.  The victim met up with the suspect to sell a cell phone.

Providence says the message was sent in error and the hospital was never in lockdown.
